The rack stores an evening’s worth of firewood above and enough kindling for several fires below, and it will take up very little space on your hearth—just over one square foot.

Wrought by hand of heavy-gauge hot-rolled steel, the Compact Curved Rack is finished with a rich distressed patina protected by a high-density scratch-resistant coating designed to stand up to cord after cord. Its scrollwork feet lift it an inch or two from the hearth, making sweeping beneath it a breeze.

(Sorghum brooms, made from the long tassels of a plant related to sugarcane, were invented late in the 18th century by a Massachusetts farmer who went on to invent a machine to manufacture them—an important event in the Industrial Revolution.)
