The Tuscan Isle Butcher Block Kitchen Island works just as well as a buffet table in your dining room as it does as a pastry station in your kitchen. This alluring island features a maple Varnique-finished butcher block top that was made for kitchen prep or rolling dough, but it's also beautiful enough to put on display. The solid wooden base rests on "twisted rope" legs and includes two end utensil drawers and a slatted lower shelf. The dimensions of this item allow for 1/8" tolerance. This butcher block table comes with a Varnique semi-gloss finish that seals and protects the wood. The Varnique finish gives the piece a fine furniture look, and eases maintenance, but is not meant to be cut upon directly. If you require a cutting surface, we recommend two options: You can purchase a separate butcher block cutting board to use atop the surface of this table. We have many butcher block cutting boards to choose from. You can sand off the Varnique semi-gloss finish from the top of the butcher block table (while leaving it on the sides) using a piece of fine steel wool (please consult a finish carpenter if you have questions about how this is best done). If you choose to sand off the surface of your butcher block table, you will need to then oil the surface and maintain it as you would an oil finished butcher block.
